Housing Is has hosted several convenings to increase participation in and support for our community of practice.
Learn More about the Housing Is Summit
CLPHA’s Housing Is Summit, formerly known as the Affordable Housing & Education Summit, introduced a health track for the first time in 2018. During the event, hundreds of professionals from the housing, education, health, academic, government, and foundation sectors lead sessions, share expertise, ask questions, make connections, and learn from peers on how to improve life outcomes for low-income and homeless individuals across the United States.
The first Affordable Housing & Education Summit started with 70 participants comprised of housing authority staff and executives, educators, government staff, funders, researchers, and nonprofit partners. Each subsequent year has seen an increase in size of participants. These Summits help to gauge success, assess our metrics, learn from one another, and share research. Our Summits allow partners across the country to come together for dedicated planning time, fostering partnerships in a way that phone calls and emails cannot always accomplish. Past Summits have featured panels on data sharing, different levels of government leadership, research on opportunity youth, partnership formation and maintenance, connectivity, post-secondary education, and early learning. Summits also have time for participants to discuss issues in smaller groups to allow for greater participation and input.

CLPHA has operated an education working group since 2014. In 2016, we opened up our regular webinar series to non-CLPHA members while keeping roundtables and update sessions for CLPHA members only.
This work has grown immensely over the years and we are pleased to announce that beginning this year, we will have a Housing Is Working Group which will host sessions on cross-sector issues including education, health, and other intersectional topics. We will be following the same format of the traditional webinars open to the general public, with roundtables and update sessions for CLPHA members only. This will replace the education working group.
You can find a 2021-2022 webinar calendar for the working group here. If you have questions about this working group or you are interested in presenting on any of the topics on the schedule, please email Director of Cross-Sector Initiatives Abra Lyons-Warren (abra@clpha.org) or Health Policy Manager Camille Anoll (canoll@clpha.org). If you would like to be added to our dedicated Housing Is Working Group mailing list, please send an email with staff name, title, and email to Camille Anoll at canoll@clpha.org.
