Chicago Housing Authority Receives 75 New Vouchers to Support Young Adults Transitioning out of Foster Care

The Chicago Housing Authority this week received $1.1 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for 75 new vouchers that will provide housing assistance to young adults who are transitioning out of foster care and are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

The Housing Authority of Baltimore City said it helped nearly 1,700 residents find new homes this year through the Housing Choice Voucher Program. That's a 30 percent increase from 2021, according to Baltimore City.

There are more than 13,000 residents currently enrolled in the HCVP, a program that helps Baltimore's low-income families offset the cost of rent for affordable, safe housing.

An empty dirt lot in San Ysidro is getting a new purpose as an affordable housing community with rental apartments for 100 seniors with low income, including 25 for seniors who have experienced homelessness, a transformation made possible through collaboration with the San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC).
