If Enacted, the Proposal Would Also Negatively Impact Private Property Owners and Increase Homelessness
WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 6, 2025) – The Council of Large Public Housing Authorities (CLPHA) released the following statement in response to the Trump administration’s fiscal year 2026 (FY26) budget proposal:
CLPHA, NAHRO, PHADA, and the MTW Collaborative are calling for HUD to streamline regulatory measures that will enhance PHAs’ ability to serve their communities. In a letter to HUD Secretary Scott Turner, the groups recommended easing the burdens of cross-cutting programs, expanding local flexibilities, streamlining rental assistance programs, and improvements to other programs.
