HACM Celebrates Graduates of Make Your Money Talk program
The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) and partner Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corp. (WWBIC) held a graduation ceremony for graduates of HACM’s Make Your Money Talk program, a financial literacy initiative that teaches HACM residents about budgeting, improving credit scores, and personal finances.

CLPHA, Kresge Foundation Co-Host Postsecondary Education Convening with PHAs and Partners

As part of a Housing Is collaboration with the Kresge Foundation to explore ways to improve postsecondary access and success for low-income individuals, CLPHA and Kresge partnered to convene five innovative PHAs, their postsecondary partners, and federal staff for a meeting yesterday in Washington, D.C.
VHA works with time-limited aid to provide rent help to more families
A recent news article highlights how the Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) is utilizing the MTW demonstration to encourage family self-sufficiency with its School Housing Stability Program, a rental assistance program that offers subsidized housing to families experiencing homelessness from the Vancouver and Evergreen public school districts over a four-year period, with rental assistance decreasing each year.
Postsecondary Partnerships: CLPHA Members Recognized for Ongoing Work with Community Colleges
The Tacoma Housing Authority (THA) and Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) were recognized for their work in addressing homelessness among community college students and other barriers to higher education in a recent article for Inside Higher Ed. THA’s College Housing Assistance Program began in 2014 in response to rising rents in Tacoma and Pierce Counties.
Tacoma Housing Authority and Tacoma Community College subsidize former Tiki Apartments community for participants of College Housing Assistance Program
The Tacoma Housing Authority (THA) and Tacoma Community College (TCC) have partnered with CWD Investments to subsidize Tacoma’s former Tiki Apartments community for participants of THA and TCC’s College Housing Assistance Program. The 62-unit complex, renamed Highland Flats, will house TCC students experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
