Construction crews are developing a multi-story building aimed to house people experiencing homelessness and they are using shipping containers to get it done.
The new development is underway in the El Cerrito neighborhood of San Diego and local leaders believe it could be the building blocks to a fast-paced housing solution.

Continuing collaborative efforts to create additional permanent affordable homes with supportive services for people experiencing homelessness, the San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) has applied for up to $23 million from the state Homekey program for two properties in collaboration with the City of San Diego and County of San Diego.
HUD has published Notice PIH 2023-13, which supersedes PIH Notice 2013-15, and provides PHAs with strategies to use HCVs while working with CoCs to prevent homelessness.
