New Study Examines How Emergency Rental Assistance Programs Can Prevent Homelessness

State leaders announced two major Project Homekey sites have been awarded millions of dollars in funding to help with homeless housing in Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties.
The Santa Cruz County site, located along Park Avenue in Soquel, received $10.4 million from the state Department of Housing and Community Development and the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency.

Outside of the homeless encampment in an unincorporated area of El Cajon, no other camp has gotten as much notoriety as the one in the Midway District.
At one time, well over 100 people living in a tent city along Sports Arena Boulevard, creating a huge negative impact on businesses and residents in the area.

The Housing Authority of Cook County is developing apartment units for low-income veterans, the organization announced.
According to officials, money for the project will come through a multimillion dollar loan from the county. Last week, officials announced the $4.25 million fund as an initiative to reduce homelessness across the south suburbs.
